Clues by Sam (the "App") is operated by Inowios ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the App collects, why, and what your choices are. Questions: support@inowios.com.
Account data. If you create an account we store your email address and a salted hash of your password. An account is optional; you can play without one.
Gameplay data. When you finish a puzzle we store the puzzle date, your solve time, the number of attempts and which cards involved mistakes or hints. Without an account this is linked to a random device identifier generated by the App, not to you personally.
Install data. When the App starts, and when your subscription changes, it sends us a random install identifier generated by the App, the platform, the App and operating-system version and the device language, so we can count active installs and keep the App working. If you are signed in, this is linked to your account.
Purchases. Subscriptions are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. The App and the stores tell us the subscription status, product, purchase, renewal and expiry dates, price and store country, together with anonymous transaction identifiers, so we can provide the subscription and handle renewals and refunds. We never see your payment details.
Usage statistics and crash reports. The App uses Google Firebase Analytics to count which screens are opened and which actions are taken (for example a finished puzzle, a hint, opening the subscription screen), together with the device model, operating-system and App version, country and an app-instance identifier generated by Firebase. It uses Firebase Crashlytics to send a report when the App crashes (device model, versions, the crash details). We do not use the advertising identifier and do not link these statistics to your account or email. In the EU/EEA, the UK and Switzerland usage statistics are collected only if you allow them when asked; elsewhere you can turn them off in Settings at any time.
Technical data. Our servers keep standard request logs (IP address, time, requested endpoint) for up to 30 days to operate and secure the service.
We do not use advertising networks, show ads or track you across other apps and websites. We do not sell personal data.
To run the game (serve the daily puzzle, keep your progress), to show solve statistics compared with other players, to provide the subscription you bought, and to answer your support requests. We use usage statistics to improve the App and crash reports to fix errors. The legal bases under the GDPR are performance of a contract, our legitimate interest in operating a secure and working service (crash reports) and your consent (usage statistics in the EU/EEA, the UK and Switzerland).
Data is stored on servers in the European Union. We share data only with the hosting provider that runs those servers, with Apple or Google for purchases, and with Google (Firebase) as our processor for usage statistics and crash reports; Google may process this data outside the EU under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Firebase keeps usage statistics for up to 14 months and crash reports for up to 90 days. We disclose data if required by law.
Account and gameplay data are kept while your account exists. Anonymous gameplay and install data are kept for statistics; when you delete your account, your installs are detached from it. You can delete your account and all data linked to it at any time in the App (Settings, Delete account) or by emailing support@inowios.com; deletion in the App is immediate, deletion by email is completed within 30 days. You may ask for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or object to its processing. Contact support@inowios.com. If you are in the EU/EEA you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
We may update this policy. The date above shows the current version; material changes are announced in the App.
